Acrylic painting on a brick wall
by Shannon Brown, Edmonton, AB
Story on the back:
Shannon spent her childhood in High Level, northern Alberta, and moved to Peace River at age 13. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She loves the north and has worked in the Yukon and enjoyed adventures in Iceland.
Looking for a summer job after completing her Education degree at the University of Alberta, Shannon was awarded the contract from the Town of Peace River to paint a mural to brighten Main Street. She had lots of visitors as people stopped to marvel at her work and her vision of the Peace Country, with everything from the northern lights to the blooming prickly pear cactus. Art can help us see the unique beauty of our own little part of the world.
