Description

From 2009 to 2019, Edmonton saw ten towers built in the downtown core, as well as the building of the new Walterdale Bridge, redefining the City’s image. The cover photo was taken March 9, 2019, as the last construction crane was being taken down.
The photo below was taken February 22, 2014, at which point the first three new towers – Icon One, Icon Two and Epcor – were completed, and the Legislature dome was being renovated. The white flood lights illuminate the construction of the new bridge to span the North Saskatchewan River and replace the bridge built in 1912-13. The new Walterdale Bridge was opened to traffic September 18, 2017 and can be seen in the photo inside this card.
The Fox One Tower was completed in 2015, Enbridge Centre and Ultima Towers 2016, Fox Two 2017, Edmonton Tower 2016-17, and the JW Marriott and Stantec Towers in 2019. At 69 stories and 251 metres high, the Stantec Tower is the highest tower in Western Canada. Welcome to Edmonton!
