Description

Story on the back:

This procedure of applying molten, coloured wax to various surfaces was used by the Egyptians more than 2000 years ago. The technique was lost for hundreds of years, but rediscovered in the 18th century. Nowadays, the encaustic wax is applied with brushes, a painting iron and the encaustic pen.
“I paint with beeswax because I love the versatility, the feel, the smell and the vibrancy of the pigmented wax. Encaustic paintings seem to light from within. The colours are exceptionally bright, because the light does not get reflected from the surface of the painting, but penetrates the different wax layers.”
