Description

Story on the back:
– A story of wild blossoms morphing into berries, & the sweet destiny of nectar
Jean Coppens d’Eeckenbrugge (a.k.a. Jean des Abeilles) grew up in Belgium. He is fascinated by the magic of bees, how they work together, and all that they accomplish, so he came to northern Alberta, Canada to study and pursue his dream of bee keeping.
In his bee yard near the Peace River, the bees search out the blossoms of wild berry bushes and plants. The meticulous work of these precious pollinators brings a vast array of beautiful fruit into being.
The bee in the cover photo is diving into a chokecherry blossom. Saskatoon blossoms and berries are pictured inside top left, followed by wild strawberry blossoms and berries. The dark, tart chokecherries sparkle after the rain and make delicious pancake syrup! Wild cranberries add the final splash of red to the bee art.
All the while, the bees are gathering nectar to take back to their hive. The wild berry honey they produce is some of the best in the world – highly rated by gourmet chefs and grizzly bears!
